Image capture questions

  1. Hi all, I am an absolute beginner in Python but I've been reading about pygame and such libraries, and I've dared trying to implement it as a node with no success... so I was wondering if anyone, with better skills than mine, could point out some ways of doing this.
Ultimately, the goal is to input image, from a webcam, and manipulate it with the sound reactor. It can be rastered (as an example here on the forum) or not, it really doesn't matter.

  2. NodeBox team

This is, uhm, difficult, for a number of reasons:

    • The Python implementation we use runs on Java, and I don't think it support PyGame
    • We don't have support for images (it's mainly a vector application)
    • You would need external (Java) libraries, which we don't really support.

So, unfortunately, this doesn't fall in the scope of NodeBox 3. It would be cool if we could do all of this eventually, but we're not there yet.

  3. yes, I figured it would be difficult.

maybe I can try to capture the image in some other way (externally), pipe it to nodebox and then raster it.

    thanks anyway
