NodeBox 3From the old forum

Can we use the NodeBox 1 library from within NodeBox 3?

  1. Hi Frederik,

I haven't spent much time looking at NodeBox 1, but by chance stumbled upon the NodeBox Library and was amazed at all the wonderful things there.

My Python skills are fairly primitive and as you know I love NodeBox 3 and prefer to do as much as possible within that. But when push comes to shove I can make simple custom nodes. Is there any way to create custom nodes for NodeBox 3 that access some of the amazing code in the NodeBox Library?

For example, would it be possible to create a graph using NodeBox objects (points for nodes, lines between point pairs for edges, strokeWidth for edge weights - or maybe just a table with node and edge properties) then pass that to a custom node to apply a spring (force) layout and return it in a form NodeBox 3 could use?

There are probably a thousand other such examples. Are any of these wonders accessible from within NodeBox 3? If so, could you provide an example NodeBox 3 custom node that shows how to do it?

    John
