"10 Years of Reading"

  1. Hi Nodebox community! I'm a graphic designer who occasionally works with information design/data visualization especially in my personal/self-initiated work. I wanted to share some work I did with Nodebox for a book I designed called 10 Years of Reading: https://micaelabrody.com/10-years-of-reading/

A PDF of selected pages created with Nodebox is attached too; since I owe so much of the book to Nodebox and used this forum as a resource as well I wanted this community to have a chance to see more detail if desired!

Most of the charts were created with/customized based on Nodebox (some were created by hand). While these aren't the most complex charts in terms of creation, my brain isn't the most math-oriented and I definitely found some (rewarding) challenges here. Also, in an effort to marry statistics with art I often used these charts as impressions or illustrations rather than conveying hard data, which proved its own challenge as well: where to embrace density, ambiguity, and/or clarity and how to make that all literally work in NB.

Hopefully this is fun to look at. Most of all I want to express a huge thank you to this community and all who maintain and work with Nodebox for making any of this project possible. <3

  2. Micaela,

Thank you so much for sharing this stunning book! As a Nodebox junkie who is also into reading, data visualization, and ponarvs (Projects Of No Apparent Redeeming Value), I couldn't be more delighted.

I looked you up in the forum. Apparently you started out as a Nodebox newbie back in 2020. So you've come a long way. Our community is at its best when people like you share their work.

Congratulations! And please keep at it!

    John
